
In accomplishing our primary mission, it is critical that we understand how to provide world class Disaster Recovery for iLumin Assentor/CA Message Manager, Email Systems, Centera and all core infrastructure related to email archiving. Now we offer this to you, as a seperate service. We have broken this up into many discrete solutions we can deploy based on your needs.
iLumin Assentor / CA Message Manager
For the Assentor/Message Manager products, this is something one might consider non-critical in your DR plan. If your primary site were to be destroyed, as long as you can recover the Email Archive later, that might seem ok. But ask your compliance people if the regulators were to come calling, or a critical lawsuit filed while you are in fail-over, the fact that your email archive is off-line would be a career limited mistake for you.
We can fix that. We can setup a complete DR for Assentor, pulling down backups of the compliance email store in any technology, and the metadata, so that if at any time your primary site can't function, then you can still run discovery from our site. Or we can run the Discovery for you.
We can even set it up so your backup email system can continue to archive to us, until the primary service is restored, and we'll push back the data to your primary.
Compliance Store (NetApp/Centera/Permabit) Backup and Disaster Recovery
If you are comfortable with your Assentor backup plan, or simply looking for a mid level cost solution, we can replicate or backup your compliance store, and have in place a plan where if you are offline for an extened period, we can bring up a backup image and have discovery ready in a short time after failure. So if your primary were down, and planned to be down for a number of weeks, we could establish discovery ability against our complaince backup in 3 days, but if you planned to be down for less then a week, you would simply wait for primary restoration. This allows you to balance perforance while in fail-over operation with cost.
If you've costed backup solutions for these platforms, it's expensive just to dump it to tape locally. We take it from backup to offsite to hosting on spinning disk all in one clean operation, and can then assist with temporary discovery anytime you need it.
Email System Disaster Recovery
Our Email Disaster Recovery solution is a critical part of many of our customers DR plans. With it, we can reverse the flow of email back from our Mailbox Management solution to your server, to re-populate your mail server in the event of destruction. So if your email server were destroyed, you simply create a new blank server, which you can have up quickly, and leave it to us. We restore Mailbox Management stubs, so users have full email boxes as quickly as possible, typically 1 to 2 days. When a user opens a stub, they are presented with the same options as with an "archived message" where with one click they can view or recover the message. Once the stubs are loaded, we then push back in full messages for a period of time until we have repopulated the window of time your desire.
So with very little internal IT systems manpower, your users get the best possible recovery, typically having the ability to send and receive new mail in a day, full mailboxes in 2 days, and a months recovery of full messages in a week.
